The clearest difference is rating: Stationary Engine Magazine at 5.0 against Engine Sounds's 3.3. Stationary Engine Magazine also leads on iOS requirement (11.2 vs 13.0). Engine Sounds's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 29 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
