Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: NotiCel at 10K against El 1480 AM's 3. NotiCel also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 8 months). El 1480 AM's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 14.0.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for NotiCel against 4.7 for El 1480 AM. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NotiCel has 10K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.
NotiCel ships an update every 3 months, El 1480 AM every 8 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
