"A walkabout is a rite of passage where young male Aborigines would go on a journey for six months in search of their ancestors path." In todays society most people work behind desks, which is not healthy at all. I could count myself to that category. This is why i made this App. With the help of the new M7 Motion processor you will now realize how many steps you make a day. In my case it helped me realize that I have to go for a walk more often in order to stay healthy. The usual desk job guy only makes about 1500 steps a day! People walking 10000 steps a day, burn between 2000 and 3500 calories. Sport medics and scientists confirmed that walking 10000 steps a day will help you lower your blood pressure, and decreases the risk of diabetes, stroke and heart attack significantly! So go ahead and check your steps daily! Or even better go on a walkabout :-)

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Steps at every 9 days against Walkabout's every 28 months. Steps also leads on ratings volume (19K vs 21). Walkabout's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Steps sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Walkabout sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Steps holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steps has 19K ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of Steps's written reviews are positive against 50% of Walkabout's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Steps ships an update every 9 days, Walkabout every 28 months. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
