Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: OctoStudio at 65 against Chromville's 2. OctoStudio also leads on review sentiment (84% vs 67%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). Chromville's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (8.1 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Chromville holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OctoStudio has 65 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Chromville's written reviews are positive against 84% of OctoStudio's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Chromville ships an update every 3 months, OctoStudio monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
