Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: The Frame Camera at 100% against Comic Art's 38%. The Frame Camera also leads on ratings volume (15 vs 3) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Comic Art's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.9). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. The Frame Camera sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Comic Art sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Comic Art holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Frame Camera has 15 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of The Frame Camera's written reviews are positive against 38% of Comic Art's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
The Frame Camera ships an update every 4 months, Comic Art every 3 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
