Number Line helps students visualize number sequences and demonstrate strategies for counting, comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Choose number lines labelled with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, or negative numbers. Or use a blank number line, with or without tick marks. Describe intervals between points on the line using forward or backward jumps above and below the line. Jumps can be labelled with their values or left blank. Add custom tick marks to the number line to show equivalence or compare number values. Show strategies with drawing and annotation tools. Hide elements of the sequence shown on the number line, which challenges students to use what they know about number relationships and computation to identify those missing elements. This virtual number line is an open-ended educational tool, ideal for elementary classrooms and other learning environments that use iPads. For more Number Line resources and other apps, visit: www.mathlearningcenter.org/apps FEATURES • Mark the number line with multiples of whole numbers, fractions, or decimals. In addition, set the starting value of the line, including using negative values. • Add and manipulate forward and backward jumps, above or below the line. • Label jump bars, manually or automatically, to show intervals or hide labels altogether. • Add custom tick marks and values to blank number lines. • Hide and reveal numbers on the number line. • Hide and reveal jumps, numbers, and other elements with resizable covers to create your own problems and model strategies. • Use the drawing tools to annotate work and show understanding. • Add equations, expressions, and descriptions with the math text and writing tools. • Share your work by saving an image or providing a share code to others. Collect data, create graphs, and analyze your findings with Gracie & Friends® in the Preschool Data Toolbox app! Choose one of our six investigations with preschool-appropriate research questions, or create your own investigations and turn them into a data story. These data collection and analysis activities help children to engage in meaningful mathematics while developing computational thinking and problem-solving, communication, and inquiry skills. Features - 6 investigations provided - Create your own investigations - Collect data in the app - Visualize data with pictographs, bar graphs, and tally charts - Tools to analyze and sort data - Drawing tool to annotate on top of graphs - Graph comparison - Slider to change pictograph to bar graph - Discussion prompts to guide analysis and learning - Data story feature to present your findings - Teacher's Guide with lesson plans - Alignment with research-based early math learning trajectories - No in-app purchases - No advertising Learning Goals This app and its corresponding data collection and analysis investigations are designed to help preschool-aged children practice and learn early mathematics concepts, engage with meaningful questions about the world around them, and use active problem-solving to answer these questions. Specifically, children will: - Collect and organize data, create visual representations like charts and graphs, and use and discuss data to answer real-world questions - Practice mathematical concepts like (counting, sorting, comparing, and ordering) Early Math with Gracie & Friends® is a math-focused preschool curriculum supplement that includes resources for classroom and home use. The Preschool Data Toolbox app and the corresponding hands-on investigations were designed to support children’s data collection and analysis skills as well as their computational thinking. The app and hands-on investigations are based on rounds of iterative research and development with preschool children and teachers. Research has shown that the use of this app and hands-on investigations help preschoolers learn about data collection and analysis, and improve their mathematical knowledge. Early Math Gracie & Friends® is not just apps! Our research shows the importance of engaging learners in hands-on, non-digital play. In fact, for every Gracie & Friends® app, we have created and researched around five hands-on activities!
