Verdict
The clearest difference is price: CarTest at Free against JB4 Mobile's $27.99. CarTest also leads on rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). JB4 Mobile's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On review sentiment, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

CarTest is free to download; JB4 Mobile costs $27.99 up front. CarTest sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 3 months. JB4 Mobile asks for nothing beyond the download.
CarTest holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JB4 Mobile has 239 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of JB4 Mobile's written reviews are positive against 44% of CarTest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
JB4 Mobile ships an update every 3 months, CarTest monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
