Visual Order of Operations vs Geometric Transformations
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Visual Order of Operations
This math app visually teaches the order of operations with interactive problem-solving. Users tap operations to solve them step-by-step, receiving feedback on incorrect choices. It uses a hierarchy of operators triangle for a visual learning approach.
- Interactive step-by-step evaluation
- Visual hierarchy of operators triangle
- Customizable expression settings
- Integer and decimal support
- Nested parenthesis handling
- Feedback on incorrect choices

Visual Order of Operations helps students learn and practice the order of operations step by step. Students can evaluate randomly generated expressions or enter their own expressions. The app supports exponentiation, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction with integers and decimals. Expressions can also include parentheses and nested parentheses. The app is designed to make each step visible. Students evaluate one operation at a time by tapping the operation they think should be solved next. If a student taps an operation that cannot be solved yet, the app explains why that choice is wrong. There are no penalties for wrong answers. After each step, the result of the current operation moves into the correct place and the rest of the expression moves down. This helps students see that only one part of the expression is solved at each step. Visual Order of Operations helps students understand that even a complicated expression can be handled one step at a time. Visual Operator Hierarchy: The app uses a “Boss Triangle” to show the order of operations visually. Exponents are shown at the top, multiplication and division in the middle, and addition and subtraction at the bottom. This gives students a visual model of the rules instead of relying only on mnemonics. Settings for Random Problems: - Allow multiplication - Allow division - Allow exponents - Allow negative numbers - Allow multi-digit numbers - Allow decimals - Allow parentheses - Allow nested parentheses Features: - Step-by-step order of operations practice - Randomly generated or manually entered expressions - Supports integers and decimals - Supports parentheses and nested parentheses - Visual explanation when an operation cannot be solved yet - Animated movement after each step - No penalties for wrong answers - Visual operator hierarchy with the Boss Triangle Other iDevBooks Math Apps: Other iDevBooks math apps include Visual Multiplication Table, Visual Fractions Decimals Percentages, Decimal Rounding, Whole Number Rounding, Column Subtraction, Column Addition, Long Division, Long Multiplication, Lattice Multiplication, Fraction Math, Partial Differences Subtraction, Partial Quotients Division, Partial Sums Addition, and more. Use Geometric Transformation to help students visualize basic geometric transformations on a four-Quadrant grid. Draw figures on an XY grid. As shapes are draw the coordinate pairs that describe the vertices are automatically labeled. Once a figure is draw it can be transformed by tapping an icon representing one of the four operations: reflect, dilate, rotate and translate. Suggestions for what to draw are randomly generated so the app presents an unlimited amount of geometric challenges.
Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Visual Order of Operations at 4.0 against Geometric Transformations's 1.0. Visual Order of Operations also leads on ratings volume (3 vs 1). Geometric Transformations's advantage is price ($1.99 vs $3.99) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.6). On update cadence, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
