Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Sys Info Widget at 4.2 against File's 2.6. Sys Info Widget also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (37 vs 5). File's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (72% vs 60%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. File sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Sys Info Widget asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Sys Info Widget holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sys Info Widget has 37 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of File's written reviews are positive against 60% of Sys Info Widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

File ships an update every 2 weeks, Sys Info Widget every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
