Whatool turns an exported chat into something you can read and search, on your own device. In WhatsApp choose Export chat, then pick Whatool from the share sheet — it sits among the actions, in the bottom row. The .txt file and the .zip WhatsApp produces today are both read, and a chat file already on your device opens just as well. The whole history then becomes searchable: by word, by sender, by date. Jump to the day you are looking for instead of thumbing through years of messages. MERGE puts several conversations into one timeline, so a story told across three chats reads as one. Everything happens on your iPhone or iPad. Your messages are read and stored on the device, nothing is sent to a server, and Whatool works with no connection at all. Whatool also keeps what a messaging app does not. A phone you no longer own, a chat you cleared, someone you have lost: an export opened in Whatool stays readable years later. LINE exports are read too. Free, with optional purchases to remove the ads and lift the free limits. ----------------------------------- Disclaimer: app created by Luca Rubin. This very simple application allows you to store photos, notes and passwords locally and only on your iPhone. No connection, servers, externals services or account are required. Your data remains only on your device. The photos taken are local to the application and do not mix with your iOS photo library. You can organize them with a small album feature. Access to your data is protected by Face or Touch ID. Such an app is handy if you want to save sensitive photos, such as a prescription, medicine card, ID, and being certain that they will only be on your device without syncing with iCloud. Passwords will be your identifiers like those used to login to Taxes government site, or your bank. Like photos, nothing is synchronized. User interface in English or French depending of your device.

Both are free to download. Whatool sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Pocket Keys asks for nothing beyond the download.
Pocket Keys holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Whatool has 70 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Whatool's written reviews are positive against 0% of Pocket Keys's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Whatool ships an update every 3 months, Pocket Keys every 27 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
