SCORING: After each roll, all valid scores are highlighted in yellow so you can quickly decide where to apply the results. Where you place the score from each roll is up to you. There are thirteen turns of 3 rolls each per game. After each roll you can choose which dice to keep by touching them, then the remainder will be included in the next roll. At the end of the 3 rolls, you must assign the score before you can move on to the next turn. The first Five Dice (5 of a kind) is worth 50 points and each subsequent Five Dice will be rewarded with a 100 point bonus. If you score 63 or greater on the left side of the score card, you will get a 35 point bonus. HIGH SCORES: If your score is one of the top ten, it will automatically be saved it in the high score list at the end of the game, & all scores are submitted to the Game Center leaderboard. STATS: Daily & All Time game stats are available via the stats viewing screen. Stats can be reset. This is the FREE (ad supported) version of Five Dice! that shows a single ad at the end of each game. Ads can be permanently disabled by purchasing an in-app upgrade via the Options screen. *Yahtzee is a registered trademark of Hasbro Inc.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Original Farkle at 4.7 against Five Dice!'s 3.4. Original Farkle also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Five Dice! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Original Farkle asks for nothing beyond the download.
Original Farkle holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Original Farkle has 4.6K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Five Dice!'s written reviews are positive against 47% of Original Farkle's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Five Dice! ships an update every 3 months, Original Farkle every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
