Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Read Live at 5.0 against Talking Typer's 4.0. Read Live also leads on update cadence (every 4 months vs every 11 months). Talking Typer's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 29%) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Read Live holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Talking Typer has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of Read Live's written reviews are positive against 50% of Talking Typer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Read Live ships an update every 4 months, Talking Typer every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
