Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Vertigus at 4.0 against Freakin' Flyin' Duck's 3.4. Freakin' Flyin' Duck's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Vertigus sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Freakin' Flyin' Duck asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Vertigus holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freakin' Flyin' Duck has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Freakin' Flyin' Duck's written reviews are positive against 75% of Vertigus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Freakin' Flyin' Duck ships an update every 3 months, Vertigus every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
