Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Newzik at 4.6 against Band Tools's 3.9. Newzik also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 29 months) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 26). Band Tools's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (81% vs 66%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Newzik holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Newzik has 1.6K ratings behind it against 26, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of Band Tools's written reviews are positive against 66% of Newzik's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Band Tools ships an update every 29 months, Newzik every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
