Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Color Notes at 4.1 against Stickies's 3.3. Stickies's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (29% vs 14%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Color Notes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $7.99 per month and Stickies sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Color Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 640 and 446 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Color Notes's written reviews are positive against 29% of Stickies's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Color Notes ships an update every 6 weeks, Stickies weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
