Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Gomoku at none against GoQuest's 1. Gomoku also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). GoQuest's advantage is ratings volume (575 vs 2) and review sentiment (68% vs 59%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Gomoku holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GoQuest has 575 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of GoQuest's written reviews are positive against 59% of Gomoku's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

GoQuest ships an update every 6 weeks, Gomoku every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
