Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: My BarTunes at 4.2 against Study Songs's 3.8. Study Songs's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 57%) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 14 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Study Songs sells 14 one-off in-app purchases and My BarTunes sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
My BarTunes holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 20 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Study Songs's written reviews are positive against 57% of My BarTunes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Study Songs ships an update every 4 months, My BarTunes every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 20, 2026 respectively.
