A rock paper scissors strategy board game with an army. Chess-style tactics, hidden soldiers and bluffs: find the enemy flag before they find yours. Play online, against 4 AI levels, through a 50-level campaign, or 2 player pass and play on one device. Gingerbread Gambit is a tactical duel that combines the strategy of chess with the chaos of Rock-Paper-Scissors, wrapped in a candy-pop art style starring gingerbread soldiers. HOW TO PLAY Place your army of 14 gingerbread soldiers on your side of the board. Each soldier is secretly one of five types: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Flag, or Trap. Move one piece per turn. When you attack an enemy, both types are revealed and the battle is decided by Rock-Paper-Scissors rules. Same type? A real-time RPS mini-duel decides the winner. Capture the enemy Flag, or eliminate every soldier, to win. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Mahjong 3! at 4.6 against Gingerbread Gambit's 3.0. Mahjong 3! also leads on ratings volume (4.4K vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Gingerbread Gambit's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly) and review sentiment (100% vs 87%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Mahjong 3! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Gingerbread Gambit sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Mahjong 3! holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mahjong 3! has 4.4K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Mahjong 3!'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Gingerbread Gambit's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Mahjong 3! ships an update fortnightly, Gingerbread Gambit every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
