Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Sake Discovery at 100% against Sake Today's 25%. Sake Discovery also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 months). Sake Today's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.4). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sake Today sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $15.99 per year. Sake Discovery asks for nothing beyond the download.
Sake Today holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 7 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Sake Today's written reviews are positive against 100% of Sake Discovery's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Sake Today ships an update every 6 months, Sake Discovery every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
