Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Matching Pairs at 4.7 against Match Two Cards's 4.2. Matching Pairs also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (928 vs 5). Match Two Cards's advantage is iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Matching Pairs sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Match Two Cards sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Matching Pairs holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matching Pairs has 928 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of Matching Pairs's written reviews are positive against 100% of Match Two Cards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Matching Pairs ships an update every 10 days, Match Two Cards every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
