About

Doorwell

Features

Some apps you open without ever deciding to. Doorwell puts a small pause in front of the ones that pull at you. When you reach for a guarded app, it asks for one thing you're grateful for. Write it, take a breath, and the door opens. HOW IT WORKS Choose which apps need a doorway. Doorwell holds them shut using Screen Time. When you reach for one, the ritual begins. One sentence. One breath. Then your apps open for as long as you chose, anywhere from fifteen minutes to nine hours, and settle shut again when that time is up. You can speak your sentence instead of typing it. Speech is recognized on your phone, so no audio ever leaves the device. WHAT YOU WRITE COMES BACK Your sentences are kept, and one of them returns to you later on the home screen. Not as a score. Just something you once noticed, handed back at a moment you weren't expecting it. WHAT DOORWELL DOES NOT DO No streaks. No counts. No charts. Nothing to keep up, and nothing lost by missing a day. No account, no sign in, no sync. What you write lives in a file on your phone. We never see it, because there is nowhere for it to go: Doorwell makes no network connections at all. Your Screen Time choices are opaque to us as well. Doorwell cannot tell which apps you picked, and can see nothing of what you do inside them. It is still your call. Doorwell does not decide whether you open the app. It only asks that you arrive there on purpose. MEMBERSHIP Try everything free for seven days. After that, $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year.
