Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: BMI at 4.9 against New BMI Calculator's 1.0. BMI also leads on ratings volume (56 vs 1). New BMI Calculator's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (20% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. New BMI Calculator sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and BMI sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
BMI holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BMI has 56 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of New BMI Calculator's written reviews are positive against 0% of BMI's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
New BMI Calculator ships an update every 3 weeks, BMI every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
