MyGels vs biomeStat
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
MyGels
This app assists researchers in analyzing protein and DNA gels, such as SDS-PAGE and western blots. It automatically recognizes lanes and bands from gel images, allowing for calibration, quantification, and export of annotated results for further analysis.
- Automatic lane and band recognition
- Gel calibration for molecular weight
- Band quantification
- Export annotated gels and data
- Organize and track experimental results

MyGels turns a photo of your gel into quantitative results. Annotate, analyse and organise protein and DNA gels and blots, including SDS-PAGE, agarose gels and western blots, on your iPhone or iPad. HOW IT WORKS • Snap a picture of your gel and crop it to the region you want, with perspective correction. • MyGels recognises lanes and bands automatically. You can adjust them by hand. • Mark a lane as your molecular weight marker to calibrate the gel, and read off molecular weights in kDa. • Tap a lane to see its intensity profile with detected peaks. Tap a peak to see band area and molecular weight. RESULTS YOU CAN USE • Quantify bands, with baseline correction. • Export annotated gels, plots of your bands of interest, and all the raw data for analysis in third-party software. • Add titles and keywords so you can find your gels again. MyGels keeps your gels as files, so it's easy to organise them and keep track of your experiments, and puts your results at your fingertips.

biomeStat is an AI bioinformatician. You upload your datasets, describe the analysis you need and biomeStat builds and runs the bioinformatics workflow for you. AI does not touch your data. Instead, biomeStat runs validated bioinformatics tools and writes R or Python code that uses bioinformatics libraries. biomeStat replaces over 100 separate software tools. One user analyzed a 16S dataset with a single prompt. Another turned flow cytometry data into publication-ready figures in under an hour. Using biomeStat is no different from asking a bioinformatician to build you a workflow. biomeStat builds workflows and gives you the methods section that you can submit to a journal. Got old datasets sitting around? Run them through biomeStat and get more papers out. Got a bioinformatician already? Let them focus on the hard problems. Give each scientist on your team their own AI bioinformatician for exploratory work and routine analyses. Your data is stored securely and kept separate from other users. We never look at your raw data or sell it. When deleted, it is gone from our servers permanently. Start with generous free credits. When you need more, pay as you go. No monthly subscriptions. Institutional pricing is available on request.
