Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Cube Card at every 3 weeks against The Guides's every 4 months. Cube Card also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and price ($1.99 vs $2.99). The Guides's advantage is ratings volume (732 vs 3) and review sentiment (88% vs 77%). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
The Guides costs $2.99 and Cube Card $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Cube Card holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Guides has 732 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of The Guides's written reviews are positive against 77% of Cube Card's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
The Guides ships an update every 4 months, Cube Card every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
