Thanks to this application (and the other Widget apps from PacoLabs), you can now customize the Home screen and the Today view of your device, by adding custom widgets for some specific purposes. From anywhere in your device, you'll have access to your own information and actions. Each Audio Note widget allows to record and play an audio note. This is the quickest way to record and play some voice recordings to remember the things that you might forget. Where did you park? what was the code to open the door? what did you had to remember? You can also have a recorded message of the person you like, always with you. A title can be added, and look can be customized. If necessary, you can hide the record button in the Today view (to avoid any unwanted change). Those Widgets are compatible with the new iOS 14 Home Screen Widgets. The application is really easy to use and is adapted to the fresh look of your device. Dark mode of iOS13 is supported. In Today view: You can add as many widgets as you want and they will be displayed in up to 3 different lists. Those same lists will be available in the Today view and in the application (although it is possible, if you want, to hide some widgets in the Today view). To avoid overloading the Today view, when too many widgets are displayed, an intuitive control will allow you to navigate from one widget to another. Even if the main purpose of the app is to view the widgets in the Today view, it can also be very handy to view them directly in the application (a long press on a widget in the Today view will open it directly in the main application).

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Audio Note Widget at 4.0 against LocalNotes's 1.0. Audio Note Widget also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). LocalNotes's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 33%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Audio Note Widget costs $0.99 and LocalNotes $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Audio Note Widget holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 1.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Audio Note Widget's written reviews are positive against 75% of LocalNotes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Audio Note Widget ships an update every 6 months, LocalNotes every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 25, 2026 respectively.
