Welcome to the Institute for Christian Apologetics (ICA), the official discipleship and training arm of Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES), co-developed with Families of Virtue (FOV). ICA exists to bridge the gap between Sunday school and seminary by equipping believers with substantive Christian training that helps them think clearly, live faithfully, and become active disciple-makers. Why ICA? Many believers want deeper answers to theological, philosophical, and cultural questions but do not have the time or desire to pursue a formal, multi-year seminary program. ICA brings accessible, seminary-caliber training to everyday Christians, helping you engage challenging ideas while growing in Christian character and practical discipleship. Transformation, Not Just Information Christian education should be more than gaining knowledge. ICA combines rigorous intellectual training with intentional formation in Christian character and spiritual growth. Drawing from the classical Christian virtue tradition, including the thought of Thomas Aquinas, our goal is to help you move from simply knowing the truth to loving it and putting it into practice. A Four-Part Active Learning Approach Each Workshop is designed around a manageable weekly commitment of approximately two to three hours. READ Build a strong foundation through five to ten pages of substantive yet accessible reading for each lesson. WATCH Learn complex theological and apologetic concepts through focused 15–20 minute video lessons featuring whiteboards, diagrams, and visual models. DO Put what you learn into practice through exercises such as Socratic role-plays, personal audits, and practical applications. MEET Join live Zoom cohorts, generally limited to approximately 20 students, for meaningful Socratic dialogue with mentors and fellow learners. A Clear Learning Path ICA organizes its curriculum into three levels: Guilds — Colleges Broad areas of study including Bible, Theology, Philosophy, Worldviews, Culture, Ministry, and Virtue. Hubs — Departments Focused areas of study such as Torah, Thomism, Islam, and Logic. Workshops — Courses Eight-week courses with a consistent numbering system that makes it easy to understand where each Workshop fits within the curriculum and its level of academic rigor. Flexible Milestones Your learning journey grows with you. Earn a certificate of completion for each Workshop. Complete multiple Workshops to earn a Hub Concentration. Complete multiple Hubs to attain Guild Mastery. Step up. Sharpen your mind. Train your hands. Form your heart. Begin your journey with the Institute for Christian Apologetics.
