Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: ba at none against Circle's shown. ba also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 43%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 12.0). Circle's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (5.5K vs 14). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Circle sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and ba sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Circle holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Circle has 5.5K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Circle's written reviews are positive against 67% of ba's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Circle ships an update every 2 months, ba every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
