Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Christ Tab at 5.0 against Study Gateway's 4.2. Christ Tab also leads on monetization model (free vs subscription). Study Gateway's advantage is ratings volume (900 vs 2) and update cadence (every 5 months vs every 24 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Christ Tab holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Study Gateway has 900 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Study Gateway ships an update every 5 months, Christ Tab every 24 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
