Can you imagine studying polyhedrons in Geometry class using Augmented Reality? A fascinating way to discover the world of geometry! This app features 3D models with Augmented Reality for most geometric shapes. By directly interacting with the figures, your students will improve their spatial visualization. * Winner of the Academics' Choice Smart Media Award (July 2014) * Learning Best Practice Award (October 2014) * 2nd prize winner of the “La Caixa Emprendedores XXI” awards for entrepreneurs (June 2014) * Winner of the first Lanzadera business incubator program (May 2013) “The power to unfold the figures is highly didactic.” Ovi Barceló, Math teacher at Julio Verne Bilingual School, Spain. “The students’ performance improves notably almost immediately.” José Antonio Pascual Gimeno, Teaching Director and Science Teacher at Julio Verne Bilingual School, Spain. *************************************** Geometry classes like never before: * View geometric shapes from all angles and see their sides unfold into flat figures. Geometry combines conceptual content (definitions and characteristics) with procedural content (applying formulae and calculus). * Curricular content and exercises to: • Study prisms, regular polyhedra, bodies of revolution, pyramids • List their properties and the formulae that define their area and volume • Compare and identify objects in the environment with geometric shapes using Augmented Reality • Develop spatial imagination by observing 3D and flat models • Interact and discover each formula step by step • Work through exercises to practise what has been learned: guess the geometric shape, confirm characteristics and calculate area and volume * The content of this application for students from 11 years of age is completely curricular. Content is available in English and Spanish. Hundreds of schools around the world are already learning with ARLOON! * Learning Outcomes: • Cognitive Development • Critical Thinking • Engagement and Usability • Creative Development • Life Skills • Academic Relevance * Acquisition of 21st-century skills: • Scientific: geometry terms and definitions • Mathematical: geometric shapes, area and volume • Digital: studying with new technology • Learning to learn: experimenting and actively searching for answers to promote self-learning • Artistic: developing spatial imagination and the capacity for abstraction specific to geometry • Linguistic: building multilingual vocabulary (English and Spanish)

About

Geometry AR

Explore geometric shapes in 3D with augmented reality. This app allows users to view and learn about over 25 planar and solid figures by interacting with them in their own space. Features include audio narration and detailed information screens for each shape.

Geometry AR is a tool for viewing and learning about geometric figures using Augmented Reality technology (AR). With Geometry AR kids can view planar and solid figures by actually walking around the figure in order to view all sides. Students use the slider or arrow buttons to move through a list of over 25 figures. As figures are selected they instantly appear in the AR view and can be viewed by moving around the virtual object. Screens of information about the geometric figure are displayed when the notebook icon is tapped. If the sound has been activated by tapping the speaker icon, the text will be read aloud. Geometry AR is perfect for mathematics classrooms where geometry concepts are being introduced. Augmented Reality adds a level of interest and excitement that will stimulate young minds to further exploration. Be sure that your iPad allows access to the camera function by choosing Settings -> General -> Restrictions -> Off. Figures Included: point ray line segment line angle arc parallel lines perpendicular lines intersecting lines circle triangle right triangle acute triangle obtuse triangle rectangle square parallelogram trapezoid regular prism rectangular solid circular cylinder pyramid circular cone sphere skew lines polyhedron torus ellipse parabola hyperbola
