Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: HammerTech Sign at 5.0 against Assignar's 3.8. HammerTech Sign also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium). Assignar's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (11% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
HammerTech Sign holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Assignar has 30 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 11% of Assignar's written reviews are positive against 0% of HammerTech Sign's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Assignar ships an update fortnightly, HammerTech Sign every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
