caQtDM vs Eyerus

The EPICS display manager MEDM is a very powerful tool with many features and satisfies most of the needs for synoptic displays. However MEDM is based on MOTIF/Xt and X11, systems/libraries that are getting into age. Moreover applications using those systems are difficult to maintain and to extend. At PSI a new Qt based application was written, reproducing the functionality of MEDM. Moreover a parser was written to convert the MEDM files into Qt files, the resulting displays being an exact reproduction of the MEDM displays. It has to be noticed that the widgets used are not directly epics aware. The idea was to strictly separate the control system from the display part, in order to be able to add other controlsystems if necesssary (which is still the case for our high intensity particle accelerator). An application is never finished and can always be improved and new things can be added. This is therefore also the case for caQtDM. The widgets could be improved, not everything has been finished and bugs will be found. This App is directly build out of the same sources like the linux/mac or windows version with the help of Qt. For using it a http server with the configuration files (network/gateway/environment) and display files is needed.

Features Safety in the palm of your hands. Eyerus uses smart technology to give you and your loved one's peace of mind, by keeping you connected and helping within reach, anywhere, anytime. This state-of-the-art innovative technology features: Green Alert Mode – Safe and Sound The green alert mode indicates you are safe and all is well. When you feel your safety is being compromised you can escalate the alert mode according to the severity of your situation. Amber Alert Mode - Audio Recording By simply shaking your phone you can automatically activate the amber alert mode which triggers live audio streaming to a secure cloud. You can activate the amber alert mode in any situation where you feel unsafe. Red Alert Mode – Live Video Streaming When you find yourself in escalated danger, the red alert mode will notify your pre-assigned guardians. The app will automatically share your location and happenings with them via live video streaming which is instantly uploaded onto the secured cloud. Blue Alert Mode – Armed Emergency Personnel Dispatched Activating the blue alert mode will dispatch private security services with an average 5 to 8 minutes response time in urban areas, covering all nine provinces in South Africa. Check-In Alert Mode You can determine how long you want Eyerus to keep watch over you. If you do not check-in within a predetermined time frame, Eyerus will then alert your guardians, in turn giving your guardians remote control to trigger the blue alert mode if you are unresponsive. Dead Man Trigger This feature allows you to keep your finger on the Deadman trigger icon on your phone and if you are in danger and you remove your finger from the trigger button, a 10-second countdown will begin. Should you not enter your unique code, Eyerus will automatically escalate to the user subscribed alert mode. Vault When the vault opens up, this feature allows you to view what you have uploaded to the cloud according to dates (voice recording or their video streams).
