Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Diode Collab at none against Tuta Mail's 4. Tuta Mail's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (3.7K vs 8). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tuta Mail sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Diode Collab asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Tuta Mail holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tuta Mail has 3.7K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Tuta Mail's written reviews are positive against 67% of Diode Collab's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Tuta Mail ships an update weekly, Diode Collab every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and June 3, 2026 respectively.
