Best Privacy Email

Tuta as a Service is the best of the best when it comes to protecting your privacy (just ask ChatGPT or Claude)

The mail client itself is basic but could be better. Anyway not the real reason I got tuta. So service is 5 stars but since we are rating the app it’s 4 stars for now

Tuta mail

Dear Sir/Madam,

Since over a week, each time I that I want to access my Tuta Mail, it just comes like a blank screen and impossible to access my email.

Each time I have to Remove the app from my iPod and Reinstall again, then it works.
Or, I have to shut down my iPod and turn it On again, then the Tuta mail works again.

This is VERY FRUSTRATING, and I tried to find out and to solve the problem via Google search and I followed all instructions, didn’t work at all.

Please, please Solve this problem for Your Customers

Many Thanks

Your Customer

White blank screen?

I have an iPhone XR running iOS 18.7.9 and about half of the time when I open the Tuta mail app I only see a white blank screen! I am wondering if other people have experienced the same problem or is it only on my phone? This is really more of a question than a rating; I would like to fix this issue but I am not sure how.

Most privacy focussed

Fantastic mail, encrypted , provides password feature within composed mail, most privacy focussed.

Response from developer

Thanks for recognizing our efforts to protect your privacy. Your support and rating of our secure mail app mean so much!

Lack of Log Put Feature is a major privacy concern

The email service is okay in theory but the inability to fully log out of my account every time I use it poses a major security risk if my device is compromised or someone else uses it. There should be an easy Log Out option so that an actual password (not just a passcode on my phone) is required each time. Even ending active sessions did not log me out and I was able to access the app and emails with just a passcode. This breaches my works security protocols so I will be looking at alternative email providers.

Good enough = Perfect

I wouldn’t say the UI is perfect, but it is good enough to send emails and read them. Other than the UI everything about Tuta is perfect.

kang sheeeit

what a nice well built email app

Best secure app

I find it better and more secure than Proton, less expensive. Been using Proton for a couple of years. Their terms indicate they are becoming less secure. It is a bad time to have your data being handed out.

Goodbye Gmail… Hello Tuta!!!

This app is so easy to use, and I like knowing that it’s private and secure. I have now gotten rid of all my Gmail account accounts and I’m using Tuta exclusively.

Wiped my phone contacts.

I wanted to like Tuta as an option to offer private email, but the app somehow wiped all my phone contacts from the native apple contacts app when I synced it. There was a warning about “sync issues” with iCloud, but no clear explainer, and no warning saying *all your phone contacts might be REMOVED entirely*. Thankfully, I was able to reimport them from Tuta, albeit with all contact photos gone and a few errors. And I still have iCloud backups, but this should not even be possible. I am young and more technologically savvy than most of my peers in white collar work, if I can make this mistake, so can 90–95% of users, Tuta needs to fix this.

Great Email

Love the security, the privacy. Great alternative to Google yahoo Apple. I’ll never go back to those that scrape your data and read all emails.

Eh. I HOPE it is private..

Seems like with every update they fix one problem and break something else. Currently I cannot open the iPhone app unless I quit the app first. Similar on website, always breaking something else.

Human verification

I DONT KNOW HOW TO READ A CLOCK HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SIGN UP IF I CANT READ A CLOCK.

Terminal glitch

Having installed this and registered, I opened the app just to see an error message. After sending a prompted error report I restarted the app just to see they my account either disappeared or was deleted. Good that there was nothing important yet in the mailbox. Not sure what’s the best adjective to describe such a bizarre glitch, but this thing is surely anything but safe.
In any event, this idea and project are good, I hope it will survive (the only reason why I didn’t give it 1 star)

Not sure why I paid for it

Search is horrible. It finds things that do not match, and it misses things that do. You cannot sort messages. It frequently says Offline and has a link that says “Reconnect,” but that link doesn’t reconnect. I am not sure it does anything at all. Frequently, you cannot delete messages. Swipe, and it appears to delete, but it remains in the inbox. Check on web, and it turns out it was successfully deleted, but the iOS app does not update the message list correctly. Swiping is clunky and needs major work. When swiping left and right, list should not also scroll up and down at the same time, but this app does.

Really nice, but left feeling jilted.

I was shopping for a more private email service and stumbled on Tuta. I decided to test it out with a month on their Revolutionary plan. It seemed pretty good and satisfied my requirements. However while in this trial month there was an offer for 50% off an annual plan. I tried to switch over to the annual plan but was not able to get the advertised price.
In the end I just ended cancelling altogether and will likely go with Proton. I will keep the free account though. And would still consider Tuta in the future.

Regarding the developer response: I would like to add that my review was posted within 10 days of first creating an account with Tuta. I would argue I’m a very new customer. I was on a monthly plan as a trial and attempted to switch to the annual plan that was on sale but was blocked.
The response has soured me on this service even more. Especially when Proton has helped me accomplish the exact same thing (cancel my monthly to switch to an annual plan on sale).
I don’t recommend this service.

Exception customer Service

I ran into a few issues which I couldn’t solve. They responded quickly and provided me with the information I need to set up a family account.

Loving it!

Feels really good to be supporting something green and private, about to download the tuta calendar app!

4.7 Stars!?

How does this app receives 4.7 stars? Family members changing their nickname and keep writing reviews?

One of the WORST email clients out there. Inboxes between devices constantly fail to sync so you end up having 32 emails on one device and only 4 on the other. You should not be allowed to call this an "email client." This is more like an "experiment."

AMERICANS DO NOT BUY

Common issue with IP address causing users not to be able to connect to their account. I bought the “Legend” subscription and when i reached out to access my account they did not respond to me for weeks. Reached out multiple times and got an email address. They told me to use an in app feature that i can’t access. Thankfully i figured out how to unsubscribe by reinstalling and uninstalling which prompted me to unsubscribe through apple, not even Tuta. Horrible customer service and if you disagree with their fan base on Reddit they let people bully you. Especially if you’re American. Trying to DeGoogle but now i have to find another email printer. Disappointed. Don’t support!
