Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: walk.App at none against GPS Workout Tracker's shown. walk.App also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months) and review sentiment (79% vs 70%). GPS Workout Tracker's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. walk.App sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and GPS Workout Tracker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
GPS Workout Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 164 and 183 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of walk.App's written reviews are positive against 70% of GPS Workout Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
walk.App ships an update every 2 months, GPS Workout Tracker every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
