Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Periodic Timer at none against Timer ٞ's shown. Periodic Timer also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 16 months) and review sentiment (52% vs 36%). Timer ٞ's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 167). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Timer ٞ holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Timer ٞ has 1.2K ratings behind it against 167, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Periodic Timer's written reviews are positive against 36% of Timer ٞ's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Periodic Timer ships an update every 2 months, Timer ٞ every 16 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
