Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Monocular Shot at none against Platform Panic's 4. Monocular Shot also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Platform Panic's advantage is ratings volume (124 vs 11) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 8 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Monocular Shot holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Platform Panic has 124 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Platform Panic's written reviews are positive against 67% of Monocular Shot's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Platform Panic ships an update every 4 months, Monocular Shot every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 20, 2026 respectively.
