Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Arcane Wallpaper at none against Cool Wallpapers's 1. Arcane Wallpaper also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.3). Cool Wallpapers's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 24 months) and review sentiment (71% vs 55%). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cool Wallpapers sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Arcane Wallpaper asks for nothing beyond the download.
Arcane Wallpaper holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 199 and 125 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Cool Wallpapers's written reviews are positive against 55% of Arcane Wallpaper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Cool Wallpapers ships an update monthly, Arcane Wallpaper every 24 months. Both last shipped on October 14, 2026.
