Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Pokémon Quest at Free against Punch Kidd's $1.99. Pokémon Quest also leads on ratings volume (19K vs 130) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 16 months). Punch Kidd's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and iOS requirement (11 vs 15.0). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Pokémon Quest is free to download; Punch Kidd costs $1.99 up front. Punch Kidd sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Pokémon Quest sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Punch Kidd holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pokémon Quest has 19K ratings behind it against 130, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Punch Kidd's written reviews are positive against 75% of Pokémon Quest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Punch Kidd ships an update every 16 months, Pokémon Quest every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
