Cold Weather Altitude Correction is a tool for pilots to calculate and visualize cold temperature altitude corrections for instrument approaches. Calculations are based on ICAO PANS-OPS Doc 8168. The app uses a more accurate calculation method than the commonly used 4% correction, which becomes increasingly inaccurate at temperatures below -15°C. Unlike conventional tools that simply provide a list of temperature-corrected altitudes, Cold Weather Altitude Correction visualizes the corrections in the context of an actual approach. GRAPHICAL APPROACH VIEW Enter the aerodrome elevation and temperature to display a graphical representation including: • Glide path to the runway • Corrected MSA • Corrected MDA • Corrected GPA • Corrected custom altitude Move the yellow marker along the glide path to display corrected altitudes and their corresponding distances from the runway threshold or a DME station. DISTANCE / ALTITUDE TABLE Calculate a table of distances and corresponding corrected altitudes, similar to the distance/altitude tables found on instrument approach charts, but with cold-temperature-corrected altitudes. Choose between an approach based on distance to threshold (GPS) or on a defined DME station. METAR RWY REPORT DECODER The app also includes a decoder for METAR RWY reports. ADDITIONAL FEATURES • Built-in handbook • Dark Mode for night operations
