Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: KeckWatch at none against Pocket Planets's shown. KeckWatch also leads on review sentiment (83% vs 67%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Pocket Planets's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Pocket Planets holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 22 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of KeckWatch's written reviews are positive against 67% of Pocket Planets's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
