Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Writer at 5.0 against Cheetah Note's 4.5. Writer also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs fortnightly) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). Cheetah Note's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (20 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Cheetah Note asks for nothing beyond the download.
Writer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cheetah Note has 20 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Cheetah Note's written reviews are positive against 50% of Writer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Cheetah Note ships an update fortnightly, Writer every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
