Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TrainCanCan at none against Train Go's 11. TrainCanCan also leads on review sentiment (89% vs 78%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Train Go's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 27) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Train Go holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Train Go has 1.1K ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of TrainCanCan's written reviews are positive against 78% of Train Go's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

TrainCanCan ships an update every 3 weeks, Train Go every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
