Flippy the Train vs IEEE Volta
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both games, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Flippy the Train
Solve digital circuitry puzzles by building train tracks that model logic gates like NOT, AND, and OR. Challenge yourself to create complex circuits such as XOR gates and half-adders with minimal track segments. Explore a sandbox mode for freeform track creation.

Build a train track to solve digital circuitry puzzles! Flippy the Train rides the rails, flipping switches to model basic digital circuitry: NOT, AND, and OR logic gates. After building these basics, reuse them in larger tracks to create the more-complex XOR gate and half-adder. What is the fewest number of track segments required to build a half-adder? Includes a sandbox mode for creating arbitrary track for Flippy to ride.

Integrated Circuits (ICs) are at the core of our hi-tech world. They are inside everything electronics. In the coming robot/IoT/AR/VR era, the application and deployment of ICs will become even more prolific and widespread. IEEE Volta is an app developed by IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) aiming at educating the general public about the importance and the history of ICs over the years. The application is named after Alessandro Volta, a pioneer of electricity and power. The puzzle themes feature the most significant ICs that have changed our way of living. Through learning about these ICs, users gain the historic perspective about this fascinating field and shed some light on what the future ICs may bring for us.
