When every minute counts, the Penn Rescue application provides pre-hospital personnel with the tools they need to save lives in seconds. Don’t waste time scrolling through your phone searching for numbers, references or directions. Penn Medicine invites you to access Penn Rescue, an app for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. The ability of the pre-hospital provider to care for the critically ill or injured is crucial to the outcome of the patient. We realize the importance of that “golden hour” and designed the app with the pre-hospital provider in mind. Penn Rescue is a reference tool to allow for immediate access to Regional Medical Command numbers, Pennsylvania ALS and BLS protocols, as well as GPS functionality to help locate and navigate to the closest appropriate hospital / trauma center or pre-designated helicopter landing zone. The app is an essential toolkit that contains important EMS references including EMS medications, APGAR scoring, frequently referenced telephone numbers, a burn percentage calculator and more. The Penn Rescue app can assist EMS personnel to efficiently reference patient care tools, expedite medical command contact, identify the nearest medical facilities, and provide navigation directions to the closest appropriate hospital or landing zone. Penn Medicine is committed to the community and those who serve it. Penn Rescue plans to provide updates about upcoming EMS continuing educational opportunities and in a future update will allow for requests for follow up.

This application hosts the fastest updates, works on all platforms, features dark mode for night shifters, and features searching, quick access to PA Medic right within the app, and important state/regional information beyond just displaying protocols. NEW in this release: offline mode with starred protocols, universal search across all levels, useful tools (timers, calculators, and other conversions), and an automatically tracked recently viewed list. With fast (and sharable) updates to content, resources like EMS information bulletins, regional protocols and pilot forms, scope of practice, med lists, hospital data, and other third-party resources curated by iHarig are right at your fingertips! Note, to use offline mode you must initially download protocols with a live connection. The app will periodically check for updates to resources in the background when a live connection is available.
