So you think you understand this thing you’re holding? Think again. Stop tapping. Stop swiping. In fact, stop touching the screen at all. To crack Blackbox’s puzzles you’ll need to find solitude and stillness, climb mountains, call on friends, get in tune with the cosmos, and think outside the box. Minimalistic visual clues make for incredibly satisfying “Aha!” moments, while sonic interfaces provide an extra level of guidance and nuance that makes Blackbox accessible with or without vision. Thoughtful haptic feedback, Easter eggs on Easter eggs, and solutions that can’t be found beneath the glass of your screen redefine what a puzzle can be. You’ll never see your device the same way again. Think you’re clever? Prove it. (Blackbox is a living game under active development by Ryan McLeod. When not eating burritos or drinking coffee, he’s busy designing and developing new Blackbox challenges.) ■

Five hundred trick questions. No ads, no subscription, no account, and it all works offline. The answer you're sure of is usually the wrong one. Some questions lean on a misconception everyone carries around; others turn on a single word. Read twice. Answer once. Built by Laz Burke, a solo developer, as a gift for his wife — who is very good at trivia. Five categories: Health & Science, The World, Religion & Mythology, Flora & Fauna, and Music & Movies. Each question graded from firm ground to thin ice. Huginn and Muninn ride your shoulders as you play: Thought and Memory, watching. And rarely impressed. ONE ATTEMPT EACH A question you answer is a question you're finished with, right or wrong. Nothing recycles until you guess it. Your score is what you knew, not how long you were willing to keep trying. ODIN WON HIS CONTESTS BY ASKING TRICK QUESTIONS So do we. Odin gave an eye for a single drink from the well of wisdom. You get off easier. Some of these are traps, and the ravens will tell you when you've walked into one. PLAY WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS AND CREATE YOUR OWN FLOCK Write your own questions about your own people, then play them at the table. How did Dad really meet Mum? What would your sister never eat? Keep a flock for the family and another for your friends. Only the organiser pays. Everyone invited plays free, forever. NO ADS. NO SUBSCRIPTION. NO ACCOUNT. All five hundred questions are free and there is nothing to sign up for. Nothing tracks you, and the whole game works with no signal at all. Read twice. Answer once.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Odin's Wisdom at none against Blackbox's 10. Odin's Wisdom also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Blackbox's advantage is ratings volume (109K vs 1) and chart position (#36 vs unranked). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
