Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: AD Boy at none against Cuarenta's 1. AD Boy also leads on rating (3.6 vs 3.2) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). Cuarenta's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cuarenta sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. AD Boy asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

AD Boy holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AD Boy has 313 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Cuarenta's written reviews are positive against 53% of AD Boy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Cuarenta ships an update every 4 months, AD Boy monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
