Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Tally at 60% against HourTracker's 0%. Tally also leads on price (Free vs $6.99) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 1). HourTracker's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Tally is free to download; HourTracker costs $6.99 up front. HourTracker sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month and Tally sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

HourTracker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tally has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of HourTracker's written reviews are positive against 60% of Tally's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

HourTracker ships an update every 5 days, Tally every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
