Verdict
Reading Racer and Osmo World both sit at 3.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 71% of Reading Racer's written reviews are positive against 42% of Osmo World's. Reading Racer also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Osmo World's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 23) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Osmo World holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Osmo World has 1.4K ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Reading Racer's written reviews are positive against 42% of Osmo World's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Reading Racer ships an update every 4 months, Osmo World every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
