The NSW WeedWise app helps people protect our health, environment, animals, farms and waterways from the impacts of weeds in New South Wales. The app has information about over 335 weeds. It is used by farmers, land managers, gardeners and weeds professionals. You can search or browse weed names alphabetically by common or scientific name. The app is divided into 3 sections: profile, biosecurity section and control section. The profile section includes weed photos, descriptions, and information about where they grows, how they spreads and how the weeds could affect you. The biosecurity section includes details about which weeds must be reported, restrictions on sales, and management requirements at the state and regional levels. This information is from the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, its subordinate legislation, and the Regional Strategic Weed Management Plans (published by each Local Land Services region in NSW). The control section includes both herbicide and herbicide free options. The herbicide section details rates, methods and conditions of use for herbicides registered by the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority. It also includes details of minor use permits. You can easily share the weed profiles with friends and colleagues and save weeds to a favourites list.
