Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Tacocat! at none against ZenDots's 4. ZenDots's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 12 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ZenDots sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Tacocat! asks for nothing beyond the download.
ZenDots holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ZenDots has 179 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 93% of ZenDots's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tacocat!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ZenDots ships an update fortnightly, Tacocat! every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
